Internal Chi Kung
Is the practice of developing the circulation of Chi inside the body by controlling breathing, and visualising the flow of chi. In order to demonstrate internal Chi Kung, a practitioner will selectively increase the temperature of a part of their body. This form of Chi Kung is often associated with the healing of others and oneself.
External Chi Kung
Involves the combination of internal Chi Kung skills with physical activity, to coordinate Chi flow with body movement. It allows the practitioner to increase their endurance, strength, balance, flexibility, relaxation, and to toughen parts of their body.

“Bending Spears” using Chi Kung
Although an hardened metal spear tip may not be razor sharp, they are easily sharp enough to pierce skin and flesh. The degree of pressure required to bend spears and steel rods is massive. Chi is not only required to protect the soft parts of the throat from piercing, tearing or bruising, but to control the spear tip so it does not slide up into the larynx.
The difficulty is increased by breaking planks of wood across the back or by placing concrete slabs on the back, which are broken with a sledge hammer. Alternatively, the practitioner may be required to drink a glass of water while bending the spear .
Chopstick breaking: Possible New World Record!
Some practioners demonstrate the breaking of chopsticks by placiong the end of the stick on the "V" part of the bone in the throat, then pull down on the chopstick in order to break it. This is not the correct method used by the advanced practioner. The chopsticks are simply smashed into the throat!
In November 2006 our Chief Instructor demonstrated this skill at a fund raising event. He went onto smash "27" chopsticks individually on the throat in less than 1 minute.
